Artist Josie Martin spent over 20 years restoring an old home in Akaroa and creating a magnificent garden of mosaic colour.

A wonderful time in the garden of Josie Martin’s The Giant’s House. It was such a happy colourful place neither of us wanted to leave. Inspiring me to get back to doing mosaics.

The Giants House website sums up Josies work perfectly – if that is possible! “Ever adventurous Josie is mindful of the larger world and other ways of seeing. Josie’s elegant abstract sculptures are seriously playful and a celebration of life. They are surreal, biomorphic entities, whimsical and flamboyant, organic and eccentric. Constantly changing metomorphosing forms confronting or circumscribing void spaces refer to her interest in horticulture reflecting the zany balance of nature.” (http://www.thegiantshouse.co.nz/default.asp?page=josie).
